Coyote Bounty in SK

I just picked up a rooster from a 50 acre farm, right on the 401 in Bowmanville Ont this afternoon. The farmer told me that he lost 2 dogs last week and a female police officer was cornered by coyotes last week as well. The MNR has hired hunters and and given them special permission to hunt and trap the area. Since last Friday they have taken 26 coyotes. They told the farmer that a bounty is being considered in Ontario.

If the coyotes are so thick, why does Sask not allow out pf Province coyote hunters? I have friends in Sask I would like to hunt coyotes with.
Anybody know the rationale or if there are plans to change it?

it's a good bet they don't want folks from elsewhere flooding into the province and shootin up the landscape...or they don't want the $20/head goin outta province...

Well all the rednecks will be warmin' up their sleds drooling over the $20 they can make running down coyotes. This isn't going to be pretty.

sure glad I don't live in SouthernSk...
us rednecks up here prefer to gun em down...easier on the hide...and sled ;)

So how will they tell the dirfference between a SK coyote, an AB, a BC or a Man?
Now if Sask went to the trouble of colour coding their coyotes, why did they not just castrate them at the time?

it's worse than that...it's RM specific...you have to apply for your cash in the RM you shot the dog...
if you kill yotes in 3 RM's you sposedta apply in 3 RM's...:runaway:

This is gonna be great, but there are going to be alot of jerks who will wreck it for everybody else and shoot on posted land and by peoples houses just for the $20. Don't get me wrong I love the idea of shooting a couple yotes to pay for the gas, But I think this may open up a whole bag of worms as far as ethical hunting goes.

They stopped the out of province coyote hunters a few yrs back, nothing to do with this bounty. Just think it is curious that they have a coyote problem and limit coyote hunting to residents only. Reap what you sow I guess.

There has been Coyote bounty's in Ont and there might still be around Owensound ,any one from the area. Goderich area had one about 10 or more years ago.

When there was a non resident coyote license nobody bought them. Nobody that is, except for some Americans that thought that their coyote licence entitled them to shoot whitetail. Since the program caused problems and created zero revenue it was scrapped.
