coyote calling

I use a rabbit fur decoy on a silent motor it spins and I call from about 40yards dw of it. Works great. Use a howler call to locate the night b4 I hunt an area I use jack rabbit calls. A lot of hawks come in even taken my decoy once. Neat but it really pissed me off. Shoot straight camo up ur gun and get a scope shade they see scopes very quick from very far

I like in an area where you can use calibers under .270 only, deer season is 2 1 week shotgun/muzzle hunts for deer, no rifle for deer lol

We can shoot coyotes with a .270 but can't shoot a deer with it

Cehck out preadatormasters.com and they have inst on how to build a home made e-caller. I got my parts on ebay and bought a 7$ mp3 player to use with it. All in it will be $35. taking it out in a week or two to test it out. Hopefully it brings 'em in by the pack!

I've been thinking of trying to thin the yote heard around here this winter as well. My question is, if you set up and call in a yote and shoot it, is the gig up in that spot for the day, or would you be able to lure in another one?

If you call in a yote, and successfully shoot it. DON'T MOVE. Not even to go pick it up. MANY times, there will be another one of the pack in the area, and despite the shot, will still come in close. Usually it will be a younger one, (most often in my area a yearling). Wait for at least 5 minutes, then try a couple calls. ESPECIALLY a wounded pup call, as if there is another yote in the area, they will not only hear the wounded call, but smell the yote you just shot.

:agree: Now that is some good advice, not like that host on Predator Nation - he jumps up & gets stupid right after the kill.

I use a FoxPro FX3. Remote is good to 300 yards which is a very good feature. Batteries suck in the extreme cold though. Also I switched down from my 22-250 to a 222. Reports are very mild and as stated many times that second yote will follow up on the calling after his buddy has just been capped.

Go out and buy some of Randy Anderson's "Calling all Coyotes" videos (I have all of them) they will show you step by step how it is done.

After watching my first video I bought one of the Primus Ki-Yi calls practiced a bit and headed out, in my first set I had a coyote come in on a run from over 900 yards away shot him @ 100 yards next one I shot @ 40 yards...

I then upgraded to a Foxpro FX3 and a Jack in the Box decoy using an injured rabbit call I had a coyote come in from over 800 yards away run to within 20 yards of the call spin and try and bound away shot was 45 yards and my adrenalin was pumping faster than any other hunt I have ever done...

Yes I am hooked on calling coyotes now I just came back from my last deer hunt of the year last night (don't need anymore meat) coyote tracks were everywhere so I'm now going to be setting up my predator rifles/loads and double checking my FX3/decoy battery supply...

and if I am lucky we will be heading to Alberta for a couple weeks (for Christmas with the in-laws) so I'll be out calling coyotes everyday we are there may even head up to a friends place in Viking for a couple days...

:D
