Coyote Hunting....ethics?

Not saying one could/should eat 'yotes, just saying I've run into a few people that have the attitude that its is only ethical/moral to kill only what you'd eat. :onCrack:

Oh yea I completely agree, in some cases I'd agree with them(deer, rabbits, geese..edible game).. but with a coyote, was just saying THEY should offer to eat it if they think like that xD

If you want help I am looking into coyote hunting this winter and my buddy and I would love to travel and help you out I'm sure. Just send me a PM.

No ethical considerations at all when killing coyotes. Couple of other considerations though. Even though it is your grandfather's property because you don't live there you are hunting and all rules apply. Small game licence, etc. If you owned or lived on the property you can shoot them 24/7/365. :)

If you really want to cut down the numbers next year go after them with extreme prejudice in February and March. Coyotes breed once a year and during those months they den up to drop litters. A few of us in our area went after them during the past winter and we've noticed a decline in numbers this year.

I did indeed grow up there and just recently moved to toronto, i'm going home for january and february though, so looks like i'll be spending my days in the fields haha

I lost a dog to coyotes and was sick for weeks over it.They get shot and run over and what other ways there is to get them any time any place now.In the old days I used to wait for after the first of November for the pelts to get better but now don't bother with that.

A couple of places where I was posted had a few trappers/fur processors that would take the coyote whole for a few bucks. It worked out well for everyone as they got fur and I got a couple of bucks (something like 10-20 was the going rate) and I didn't have to skin them if I didn't feel like it.

I would ask around at your local taxidermist/hunting store for contact information and inquirie with them. Keep in mind that they will only do this during the fur season if you shoot coyotes out of season their fur is terrible and nobody is likely going to buy it.

SSS, enough said.
And unless the regs say you must use specified parts of the vermin then I would either SSS or learn a new hobby, skinning and tanning.
just my .02 worth this morning amongst the many others.
