Coyote Hunting in AB

Not sure what you are asking hpf. Are you asking about crown/public land? If so, you can still camp in the winter in most public land areas. The only exceptions would be areas that are closed to vehicle traffic in the winter. And even there, you could still camp, but you would have to hike in on foot.

But be aware you are legally required to salvage (i.e. skin/sell/give away) the hide of coyotes taken in the "green area" of the province; you can not waste them. There is no requirement to do so while hunting on private lands (or public lands to which you have right of access) in the "white area".

Public Land

Thanks! Yeah, I was asking about Public Land. Just going through the ACA Discover guide, and it looked like everything was "day use only, no open fires"...was just wondering if there were a few special places that didn't have that restriction...

The ACA sites are not "public land", they are private property to which public access has been granted. In AB, there are two basic types of public land - forest lands (in the aforementioned Green Zone) and Crown Lease - lands that are owned by the province, but are not public access - you need to get permission from the leaseholder. Most lease lands, even the ones that allow public access, do not allow camping, etc., at least without explicit permission.

The Green Zone is generally open public access, though some areas are closed to motor vehicle access, and camping is allowed.
