coyote hunting in Alberta

Hello, I live in BC and was planning on meeting my brother from Alberta in the Tabor area for a couple days to do a little coyote hunting on goverment land and possibly private land with the owners permission, in about a week or so, I read everything I could find about out of province hunting regs, http://www.albertaregulations.ca/huntingregs/ and I'm still not really sure if I'm required to get a permit or not. I currently have a BC hunting licence.
Anyone familiar with the regulations on this ? info would be appreciated.

IIRC, you will need to buy a coyote/wolf license along with your wildlife certificate. I remember there also being some requirements specific to non-residents coyote hunting during an open big game season - might only apply to non-resident alien. There should be a page about coyote hunting - non-resident, that should explain it.

Your bro does not even need to have a hunting license as he is a resident, but may have to get one, and a hunter host license to allow you to hunt.

From AB Hunting reg's, page 23:

"Non-resident (Canadian) and Non-resident Alien hunters of big game,
wolf and coyote must be accompanied by a licensed guide or a Hunter
Host."

Your wildlife certificate cost the same as your brothers, he needs a hunter host license, around $25 bucks, and your Coyote / Wolf license will cost $12.40.

Could not find the big game season thing I mentioned. If I find it I will post it.

Nope, says "non-resident(Canadian) and non-resident (Alien)". Means non resident of the province but a resident of Canada, and non-resident of Canada, respectively.

The reason I am clear on this is a bunch of BC guys I know (they were wanting to become F&W/Conservation officers) had been out hunting coyotes in AB where they lived for school. But, their DL's were still in BC, therefore they were seen as non-residents and told clearly by the F&W officers that if they were caught again they would be charged under the wildlife act and would never be able to work in the field.

It's less then $75 to be legal if you are non-res.
 
Do not know if you have left yet, but you need your brother to buy his hunter host first, then you need his WIN number to buy your tag.

Oh, I forgot, you need to have a WIN before he can buy his hunter host cert.
