Hey everyone!
So, with the different seasons drawing to a close soon: deer, squirrel, grouse, etc, I have been really looking into getting into coyote hunting as a way to get through those long winter months.
I have heard from a few people that the Ottawa Valley seems to have a pretty healthy coyote population.. various people have told me they are seeing them everywhere.
I, unfortunately, haven't seen any yet this winter.. I saw a fox, and thats about all.
I am wondering if there are any serious coyote hunters in the area who would be willing to take me out for the day and show me the ropes. I am pretty busy up until Christmas, like I am sure most of you are, so I was thinking after the new year, if anyone is interested.
I will be trying myself. I am considering purchasing an electronic caller, because I believe my calling skills to be pretty abysmal (I am practicing though). I have a friend who owns a few hundred acres right outside of Winchester. He has some pretty long fields..He has had coyotes in previous years... He said that they tried putting their chickens in an outside pen several years ago, and they had about 30 chickens there and only 10 were left the day after apparently.. I was chasing one on their four-wheeler myself two years ago..
However, this year, we haven't seen any at all.
We are going to try a combination of electronic caller and bait pile, and see if we can get any this year.
Does anyone know of any other places near the Ottawa Valley that are have had lots of coyote spottings? or any farmers that have been complaining?
Please PM me if you have any info,
Thanks guys!
