Im new to the coyote hunt. Ive hunted everything else pretty much. However the yote hunt looks challenging and allows for some winter activity.

I have a 223 rem or a 308 which seems a little large

I need tips! Anything you have. I hunt 350 acres mixed bush and hardwoods with fields also. Lots of rabbits and woodchucks provide food. How do I get started?

Thanks!

take your 223 and load it with some 55 gr. expanding bullets

get a rabbit in distress call and a coyote howl call, also get a how-to DVD on coyote hunting and calling

keep the wind in your favor and get out there :D

Tip #1. Get permission to hunt more land. Getting permission to hunt predators is usually easy. Plus it may lead to permission for other species.

Doing 10, 25-30minute stands that are spread out on the property of 6 different farmers would be an average Saturday for me.

The amount of area I have permission to coyote hunt would easilly be 2500 acres. That doesnt include when I call fox on crown land.

Coyote hunting is a big area deal.

Tip #2
Shootign a coyote from your couch is very difficult.:D You gotta get out there and squack on a call or two. Time invested will payoff.

But of you have permision you may be able to take your couch with you into the field. then you could in fact shoot from your couch.
