Did a search and couldn't really find much. I know a few people have mentioned saving the meat after a coyote hunt, my question is how is it? There can't be much to salvage but is it worth saving? How did you prepare it? BBQ? Jerky? I live in one of the side communities in town so don't have much coyote crossing the property line, but Id like to use as much of it as possible if heading to a 3rd location for coyote. Thoughts?

In that case, in the world of Fallout or some dire circumstance, sure, you do what you gotta do, but not otherwise.

It was a pretty easy question..."Anyone tried coyote meat? If so how'd you prepare it?"

I'll take your smart-*** comments with a grain of salt. Thanks for the info.

Don't think I know of anyone eating coyote, but I imagine it would be similar to bear where the taste can vary based on the specific diet of the thing. I think a more common use might be using the meat as bait for other predators.

I am told the rear haunches can be cooked in a stew.....I am not about to try it, stinky buggers... Apparently it's not that bad.

i wouldnt eat it as they carry rabies for a start

best of luck and cook it well

I have been told it is not that bad. It was BBQ'd. I'm sure it can vary depending on what its been eating. If you do try it cook it very well.

The Meat eater has a vid on eating coyote! They say its not that bad, check it out and happy hunting.

Seriously, have you ever been tempted to eat a dog? Outside of one region in China, I'm unaware of canids being a popular human food source.

Nope I have not. It was a bit of a loaded question I suppose, I've never hunted coyote before, and I'm a firm believer in if I search-it-out and shoot it, then I eat it. Essentially, is it worth taking a weekend to go out and find some coyotes. General consensus now is no.

Can not be all that bad.My uncle was over in Artona Italy during the War and they found a local in a bombed house cooking spaghetti and was offered some, he said he never had a bite in two days. They found out after he cooked his last dog and used it for the sauce. My uncle said it tasted pretty good.Go Figure.
