My wife has been telling me she has had 7 or 8 coyote sightings in the last week in our backyard. Well they finally showed up when i was home. Grabbed the closest rifle to the safe door. Happened to be my 308 from last seasons deer hunt. Grabbed 2 rounds and raced up to the family room. Opened the window and popped out the screen. Used the back of the couch as a rest. 105 yard shot with the yote facing me chest on. Put the hairs on the center of the chest and sent a 165 grain accubond down the tube.

Never took a step just dropped dead:

Healthy looking female. My lab/pit bull in the picture is 75 lbs for scale.

I was expecting you to tell how the coyote had come into the house, was sitting on the couch and drinking your beer. Then you shot it.

Wow, I am very jealous for being up North catching all the monster walleyes and shooting coyotes in your back yard lol.

Way to go J.

Nicely done!
You said you used the back of the couch as a rest.
Did you get the barrel out the window or were your ears ringing for the rest of the day?
(I made that mistake in haste with a shotgun once... Once!)

Yup, deer off the back deck.

Grizz

Ha Ha ya the yote story and your post got me thinking of my buck deer 3 yrs ago...Was cooking eggs at the stove and glanced out the window, 6 does and one very respectable buck feeding 30 yards from the house...shut the stove down & mad scramble around the house to find a shell for the 45-70 RB...found one and poked the rifle barrel out the sliding patio door, waited for the buck to step between two of the railing slats for a clear shot & fired...went back to the stove to finish the eggs, eat them, then got to the butchering.

A little more to the story, at the shot, all the doe's run out in the field 150 yards or so and stopped , milling around, I didn't pay much attention to them until, when I was at the table eating, I noticed they had all came back into the yard...and I swear to Crist one of those does went over to the buck and pawed at him with a front hoof a couple of times.

I like it.
Never shot one out of the house but we have out of the barn a few times.
The last building we put up is raised about 10 feet off the ground for conveyor and pump purposes and the big door faces the mountain 150 yards away.
It makes a nice platform to shoot coyotes.
