So... If I shoot a Coyote after I skin it, what should I do with the pelt? Do I need to dry it on a board? If I do is it fur side down and scrap off the fat and stuff? Does it need chemical treatment?

Basicaly I don't know anything about this...what do you guys do?

Thanks in advance

Nic

Ha Ha Ha Nothing gets by you eh!:p

I just read the article that was linked above. It suggests pelt prices are about 15.00$ ... but the article was dated Winter 1976 so I am sure somethings have changed. What are pelts going for this year?

ya it would make sense to kill it before you skin it, but u usually put it on a coyote board stretch it longer and pin it so it will stay. put it in a cool place to dry then flip. that may not be the correct procedure for coyotes but it works for other furbears

Case skin the coyote then scrape any remaining fat off the hide. Put the pelt (skin side in) on a stretcher. When nearly dry, turn fur side out & place back on stretcher until dry. Check out last year's fur sale prices on North American Fur Auctions. A friend of mine got $35-$70 for his coyote pelts last year.
