Coyote skinning debate.

So for a while now I've had two friends arguing. One insists that because coyotes are considered small game animals, you do not have to skin them after you've killed one. The other friend is adamant that any coyote killed has to be skinned, as per the BC hunting regs.

I've never hunted coyote, and the hunting regs don't specify coyote at all.

So, to settle it once and for all: when hunting coyote, is it a legal requirement that you skin the animal?
 
So then I assume that skinning them is optional in British Columbia?

Sounds like a waste not to though!

You'd be lucky to see $20 for one this year.......here in Alberta there is no requirement to skin them but you are likely best to ask the powers that be in British Columbia.
 
No requirement to skin them here in NL either, and in fact, if you're going to turn the carcasses in for the $25 bounty, they prefer the hide intact.

On public land in Alberta you have to harvest the fur of coyotes unless you are controlling problem wildlife. Which means skin it or sell/give the whole coyote to a fur dealer.

Ah, right you are.......but only in the green areas from what I understand. Coyotes on public lands that don't fall within green areas do not need to be salvaged.

I thought it was mandatory in BC to skin the coyote, in AB you can just shoot them for pest control, like gophers.
