Attended an OFHA Coyote Workshop in Lindsay today.
Would like to thank the organizers and supporters as well as the presenters.
It was informative as well as enlightening.
And thanks to Adrian Hare for letting me bend his ear and his presentation on coyote calling.

Was there an ofah email sent out? I'd have been interested in this had I know about it.

I have posted it a couple times here but no there was not anything put out and the venue was full. I hear they are testing the waters on this sort of thing and Ottawa was talked about maybe for next year...

Once upon a time I used to hold a "predator day" at a local fish and game club. It was very popular and I enjoyed it however the politics started to get out of control and I gave up on it. Wasn't worth all the headaches. Glad to hear someone is doing something.

I found out from my buddy and he seen it in the paper.
I did talk to the organizers and they were surprised with the response.
The one in Lindsay was the second one, the other was in Elmwood on the 17th.

I was out today but it was late morning, cold and windy.
Nothing yet but I did check a den that I found late in December and it is starting to become active. Lots of tracks in and out of the area.
Did get a nice picture on the game cam as well at another area.
Might work that area next weekend and possibly set up a game cam at the den sight for a week or two just to see what is there.

funny story... i received an email from a buddy from my club... apparently there has been a request for a workshop closer to Ottawa! id have probably drove to lindsay with enough notice; however having one closer would be much better!

Closer to Ottawa would be great! I was hoping to make it to Lindsay, but it's quite a hike from eastern Ottawa. I hope you can pull through for next year.

As for notice, it's been posted on the OFAH website and in Ontario Out of Doors Magazine.

Once a date has been set I will post it up, one of our Club execs is working on doing this. He is pretty good at sending out emails PDQ.

There was a guy "Dale Boyer" that asked if I would be interested in making the drive to the Ottawa area to do a seminar on coyote calling and hunting. If there was enough interested, a venue and I had the day and expenses paid I would not have a problem in February. I wont be able to after that ...

Here's the response from OFAH.

The recent coyote workshops hosted by the OFAH were made possible through funding provided by OMAFRA. Considering the high attendance and success of these events, the OFAH will be considering hosting more events throughout Ontario in the future. Any workshops would need to be budgeted for and approved by the OFAH Board of Directors. This means that the earliest a workshop could occur is in 2016. I will make a note of your request for a workshop in the Ottawa region for consideration when future workshops are discussed.

To answer your questions…
#
1.##### The more interest the better to ensure a high attendance for maximum information dispersal. ##
2.##### The OFAH was contacted by an individual just outside of Renfrew with interest in a coyote workshop. We have not received any other requests from the Ottawa region.
3.##### At this time there are no workshops planned for 2015, the OFAH will be sure to make our members aware (email, magazine, social media, etc.) of any workshops and/or opportunity to gain knowledge and experience about wildlife topics in Ontario, including future coyote workshops.

I'm in for a course, I have the gear and the place (near Peterborough) but I don't really know what I'm doing. Local is better, but if could maybe drive for it.
