Coyotes, from shot to finish. Lots of pics!!

Just thought Id share some pics of my passion of predator hunting here in southern SK. Im very fortunate to have some of the best coyotes in NA out my back door and there is nothing Id rather hunt then a coyote (call me weird). Was out today and shot 2. Heres a some pics of whbat I do with a coyote from start to finish.

Rifle- Tikka T3 Lite .204 Ruger
scope- Bushnell LRTS 4.5-18x44

Big open country I hunt, this shot was morning with some fog. Shot one off this area. This spot is always money!!

Always have my favorite skinning knives. Ive bought custom knives costing hundreds and nothing seems to work as well as these cheap knives I bought at Dam Beaver supplies. About $20 a knife and are perfect.

My fleshing Knife a Necker 600....Learnt on it and love it. Also cant go with my Havalon, its a Godsend for fine work.

On the skinning machine

After skinning it hits the beam where I flesh

Done fleshing, ready for the washing machine.

On the boards, fur side in

Flipped and pretty much done, just drying out

And when they are all done and hanging!! Ready to sell.

Nice job of putting them up. Should be a couple of grand plus hanging there. I see GFW is making some stops in Sask and buying or sending them to FHA?

Yeah, not sure who Im gonna sell too. Lots of players have emerged in SK since the demise of NAFA.

I hate seeing dog like critters shot, though I have had to do the same around our animals.

What loading are you using in your 204? Ranges appx?

BTW, that is some great fur you have hanging there. great job!!! Can a fella use compressed air like they do on deer?

Most shots are 100-300 yards...

My reloads are

35 gr. Berger

Yep, gotta a washing machine set up specifically for coyotes and other fur I get. Nice clean fur gets top dollar.

Fur is graded then sold in graded lots if you go through the auction houses. Private buyer pay per coyote but have never gone that route. Might sell a few to the buyer in Jan if prices are fair.

nice job and i can see that,,,,got my first col tv with money from fur cheque back in the day of the ota still got a stub from a sale ......got 105 $ for a coon well that was when fur was in ...now most are culled by mother nature ....and she is a cruel agent of death ..long and slow.....like mange ....good luck on your sale .....i did manage to shoot a few of late ....personal best ...coyote 55 lb 6 oz on certified scale ...22.250 berger blc2 ..180 yds no contest.....once again nice job

Nice job on processing the fur. What do you use for a heating source in the fur shed. I had one lined with OSB like yours that I used a wood stove and after a decade of use the OSB dried out. Good thing I was around when it caught on fire.
My new shed that I built is now all metal lined and I have gone to a small propane heater to warm it up quickly when I want to work in it. The wife and kids use to complain more about me smelling like smoke than like fur. I built a separate small room in it that is super insulated and just has a small electric wall heater. It also has a refrigeration unit in it and is used as a walkin cooler for those Sept archery deer and elk hunts.
I like you would much rather be out coyote hunting then big game any day. Christmas Day is one of the only days in the winter when I don't carry a rifle while I travel but I have shot a couple over the years out the back door around the sheep once I open presents.

Nice post Scott. Some of you fellas are very lucky to have them out you’re back door. Most of my spots are about 1 1/4 hours from here. But worth the travel.

Like some of you I’d rather call coyotes than anything else. I hire to skin. No place to do it and I’d rather just not put up with the mess where I live.
