Both of those would be a very superior choice to a 20 gauge shotgun with buckshot. (for big game)Mistook thread's intention, I say .223 then if big game's not on the menu. If it is, .243 or a quarterbore.
I tried #2 buckshot once on a prairie jackrabbit. Yes I killed it at 25 yards. One lucky pellet struck his heart with no other strikes. To my eyes, it appeared to "die in it's sleep" with no outward sign at first, of being struck with a projectile. A very strange harvest indeed with the 20 bore.
