coyotes

I just have a question regarding coyotes. My friend got his whitetail on the 30th and wondering how long it will take coyotes to finish off the entrails. I was thinking of maybe going out to try and take a poke at one.

Ive see a gut pile gone within 24 hours in Dec, not just yotes, but any scavenger will be there.

My pal shot a nice whitetail at 08:35 along a pasture fence line. Animal was gutted and tagged shortly after. We went back with a 4X4 to retrieve the kill about an hour later and were astounded to find a coyote at the guts already along with a good complement of ravens and a few magpies. Here in West man were over run with yotes.

on one property we hunt the gut pile is gone within hours. and another sometimes days. i don't find baiting works all that well for yotes. it's a good time to practice your calling! just my experiance on our hunting land. may work better somewhere else.

I have found that song dogs travel a great distance, in my area they can be heard a ways off one night and the next they can be in my back yard. If you call over your gut pile it may give them a reason to come out of the woods, like a decoy. Good luck

if the yotes are around give them 4 houres and you will not be able to tell that a deer was shot there. use a call and bring them in.
