coyotes

In Manitoba a trappers license ($5) is required. The season runs from fall to winter. Outside of that season you may also get a kill permit for nuisance coyotes. I do believe that you need to have a request from a landowner to be eligible for the kill permit.

I've shot a number of coyotes, but they were usually targets of opportunity. I've never been a varmit hunter.
This year I'm going to buy one of those electronic callers, set it up near my place where the coyotes hang, and then retreat up the hill about 100 yards.
I shoudl be able to blow them away, if it all goes as planned, Mighth get some wolves coming in too.

Maybe a cougar or a bobcat, but I don't think a bear!
The season doesn't apply to all of Southern Ontario. There is a closed season from April 1 to September 14 in WMUs 1-42, 46-50, 53-58. In the southern, central and southwestern WMUs, the open season still remains.sean said:

Hi, I'm new to the hunting thing. My friend and I are planning on hunting coyotes on his property in the near future, there are plenty here. What must I use to attract the yotes? Also, what type of gun and ammo should I use? I own a remington 870. Please let me know. thx

Do what you can to wipe the basturds out, had a family member forced to lose his farm when the 'yotes found that they liked his lamb and pig farm then fending for themselves . SO tally ho ....
hey suspect...if your hunting bush you can use your 870 with a full choke and #4 buck...just watch the wind direction and use a scent cover like "earth....they a wary as hell. if your hunting open field then obviously a rifle will do ya better....if you can hunt with 2 of ya its a bit better as they love to sneak up behind ya to see whats making the racket (ie. calling)....have fun! there are alot around where your at!
