CQ-A Norinco 14 or 10.5 barrel ??

Wich one is better for 3-gun ?? the 10.5 or the 14.5 barrel. Are both as accurate ? Are they both good guns. any problems with the 10.5 ?
 
I have a 10.5"
It had extraction issues, which was easily remedied by an extractor/spring and O ring upgrade. I am about to try it for CQB.
Seems accurate enough, will know soon.

I have a DD MK18 10.3 inch and a CQ 14.5 and the MK18 up to 200 yards ( longuest i can shoot) is more accurate, maybe the quality of the AR make a big difference but the lenght of the barrel doesnt seem to interfere with accuracy... JP.
 
Longer barrel will theoretically be more accurate every time.

You can do CBQ with a 14.5" without too much problems but it'll be harder to make longer shots with the 10.5", lose velocity too.
 
If you're under 300 yards, and shooting paper there should be more difference between individual guns than barrel lengths. I like the 10.5 - it just looks cooler, and it's all about looking cool.

I've read that the SHORTER barrel would be theoretically more accurate, less "barrel whip" (lookup slomo rifles on youtube). The only instance a longer rifle would be more accurate would be due to the longer sight radius. Less velocity, yes. And I bet that there is very little difference betweeon a 10.5" vs 14.5" as far as actual accuracy is concerned.
 
I've never heard that. I'll take a look out of curiosity but the only time I've heard shorter battles being more accurate is either m203s. On a 5.56 a shorter barrel will be less accurate, slower and less range.
10.5" is good if he's just clearing rooms with a 30round mag, imho

At shorter ranges the barrel length has little to do with accuracy. Shorter barrels are stiffer and have less whip, which should give them the edge but it isn't a big advantage. At long ranges (say 500+yds) the longer barrel will start to have an advantage because the higher velocity it offers will reduce environmental effects.

As for OP, I would pick the 14.5". Unless you are doing room clearing drills the longer barrel will not hinder you at all and it offers a bit more velocity for longer shots and significantly less obnoxious muzzle blast.

I have a 10.5….. No problems…. If I would go back….I would get a 14-18in Norinco barrel and a 7 in NEA…. 10.5 is good for cqb, But 7 is even better LOL

With my red dot…I hit 200yrds no problem
 
UPDATE-
Got the 10.5 Nork in the mail,...took it out to the shop and put a 3x9 Red field Revenge Scope on. lazer sited it, then off to the range. Set my Target up at 50yards,..after 10 more shots to dial it right in, was getting 1/2 inch groups with ease. Very Impressed !! Set my 8inch steel swinger up at 100 yards,..very easy fast shots. I don't understand it......my 14inch CQ wasn't this accurate. Anyway, the gun cycled and extracted all the ammo 100% I didn't really find it any louder than my 14 barrel. No real muzzle Flip either. I was not expecting to much out of this very short cabine, wow I love it !! This cheap CQ worked way better than my expensive Semi auto Hatson today, "that's posted in another thread.

Update. tried shooting the steel pigs at 300 yards today. Had to aim aprox 6 inches over top "hard to tell from that distance" But it slowly toppled them. My 15 inch CQ was dead on, no elevation required. I'm impressed and surprised with this short boom stick.
