CQ311 New Barrel

What do I need to get to change the barrell of a chinese AR. Would like a heavier chrome lined 16 inch barrell.

You'll need:

1. a new barrel
2. an armorer's wrench
3. an upper receiver vise block and
4. various small drift punches plus

Keep in mind that Norinco threads are METRIC. You'll likely need to use the original barrel nut, which means taking the FSB off of both barrels first.

You might be better off buying a used upper (A2 can be had for less than $200) and putting the barrel on that. That way, you still have the original Norinco upper that can be saved or sold.

I looked into keeping the barrel and changing the upper, but ended up going the entire new upper route.
