Ganderite and I used to shoot it left handed. Makes perfect sense you hold the rifle in the right hand at the forestock, and using the left hand to fire and change mags. It's very stable, very accurate. The rifle hardly moves, especially on the rapid.

But one event the military complained that they are not allowed to shoot that way, so it was banned for everyone :(
 
That's not really left handed. That's shooting from your right shoulder, aiming with your right eye and manipulating the trigger with your left hand.

I've shot it both left and right handed. Never had a case boince into my rifle after ejection shooting right. Left obviously is no issue when using a right ejecting upper.

I was going to point out scope height and rifle canting but Komby did a good job.

No the question is how to shoot a PRS stage canted 90 deg. AND shoot thru a spiderhole and hit traget at 300m thru chainlink fence squares..... lol
 
Well, I just shot the CQB Championship. Shot like a young man. In fact, I shot like a rookie.

Anyway, the Modified Prone went well.

From the practice, I knew where to aim, and with my scope cranked up to 6X, I could see the shots cluster in the white.

This target has the 10 MF shots and 2 rapid fire. The two rapids are out to the left.

My rifle shoots below my point of aim so I hold a bit high. I found shortening the AR butt down to one click open is the right butt length. I also found using my middle finger on the trigger works easier than my trigger finger.

That's pretty much my system too, but my right arm is still numb by the time I get to my feet.
 
This was very difficult for me on the practice match. I found a much more comfortable position the second time. I would think that experimenting with different positions at home would identify the best way to do it. Middle finger on the trigger was the only way for me to get a round off. Lots to learn here for sure.
 
When I insert magazine and chamber a round for the first time I turn the rifle proper side up and not horizontal. That way I know my first magazine is loaded right and the first round racked in right. Same reloading for the rapid as I have time to do that. Just cutting down on error likely situations.
Yes, my equipment should function reliably all the time. It doesn't and neither do I.:p
 
I, too, use my diddly finger on the trigger. This is much more comfortable and it also puts my trigger finger out near the mag release, which speeds up a mag change. The finger is ready to go.

In every CQB match I see examples of mags not being inserted until they latch in place. The most common failure is the first mag of a Mod Prone shoot. I solved the problem by locking my bolt back, first. Then when I slip the mag in, it easily clicks into place.

I crank my body over until my head touches the ground. That makes it very stable. The stock is collapsed so it is out one notch. My right hand has the fingers ticking down onto the ground, so the forend it solidly braced.

My set up is perfect except for one thing. I have an aggressive brake that shoots gasses out the sides. The right side is pointed down and back and showers me with and the rifle with dirt and grass. I am going to switch to a S&J linear comp.

The muzzle brake on my M4 blows gasses out the side. In MF, one port is only a few inches from the ground, and it blows grass and dirt back onto me, my glasses, the stacked magazines, my optics and all over the rifle.

Today I took the 16.5" barrel off a rifle and installed a heavy 10.5" barrel. The resulting rifle weighs exactly the same - 6 3/4 lbs.

I did the barrel swap on the rifle marked "BL" on the target in the original post. I chose this rifle because it consistently had the worst 100 groups of my ARs. I had nothing to lose. Gas is not a problem with the new barrel. A mild load cycles the action and locks back just fine.

The brake is just a hollow tube - a linear compensator. I just fired a shot with it with no ear muffs on. Noise was not bad at all. It blows all the sound and gasses forward. I don't expect to get showered in dirt any more.
 
I installed a S&J Hardware Nano 1.5" Linear Compensator on my 10.5" barrel AR15.
Big improvement for me in modified prone with reduced muzzle blast compared to the stock flash hider.
Used it for the last two CQB matches .
Not too expensive either . $52 from FOC.
