We all have a connection to safety...
Ok I had actually typed those VERY same words!
We all have a connection to safety...
So the thread that I started in the Service Rifle section, asking for info from the people that shoot CQB, do you want me to discontinue my efforts to help you bring this to EESA?

Not sure at what point the original sport becomes diluted enough that it then becomes something totally different, but the vid here shows what I guess are being called rifle standards at a 3gun match in the states.
Not sure if the transition to second firearm would pass at a private range but it could possibly be set up as two separate stages/events.
And the monitored firing line could progress unloaded to the next shooting position.
Not totally the original sport, but maybe "safe" enough to pass the scrutiny of a CFO/Board of a private range?
Simply punching holes in paper gets stale after a while so I'm always looking to add some variety.
Not sure if CQB is my thing but won't know till I try it.
To JRW, Good on you for your efforts till now, but don't give up so soon.
Find a compromise between what is happening on the DND range at what is ultimately acceptable at a range.
Seems people at EESA are willing to work with you.
Sure, but what is the better fix, lambasting someone on the Internet, or offering assistance to steer them down the right path?
Some ranges only allow firing from fixed, designated firing lines, and do not allow any movement foreward.
This may not be an issue elsewhere.
Period.
Some ranges may require that this sort of match be operated with a single shooter moving and shooting alone - common with action pistol. This makes these matches do-able, with a real time bottleneck. Scenario matches with carbine and pistol can be very interesting, but one shooter at a time leaves everyone else standing around.
If this particular event is to spread, it would really help if there was a comprehensive rulebook with detained descriptions of the courses of fire, including detailed instructions for range staff and shooters alike. It isn't really eoungh to know that x shots are fired at y distance, and the shooter then moves z meters.....
It is obvious that this is a very popular event among those who are participating. This alone is reason for other range operators to have a look at it.
And that is all I have been asking for since the beginning, have a look at it, nothing more.
And from the beginning I and others have looked at the evidence you brought forth and pointed out the problems with that evidence in terms of bringing it to a club environment.
The place to decide that is at a meeting were we can hash out what ever changes need to be done.

Think what you might end up with is what will look like PPC with rifles.
Shooting from a common firing line at different ranges... Guns empty when moving from one yardage to the next, off the clock.
Yes that...........
With............
and you knew it was coming
holster qual course
qualified Safety personel.
oh and RULES
I don't really see the point of a "holster" course per se when half the shooting is done with a rifle...
.
.
My position has always been that as long as we OBEY the 4 universal laws of gun safety it shouldn't matter how any firearm is conveyed.
.
Unfortunately there are too many who don't even know what these rules are.
That's not going to happen at a general meeting....
The club is going to need a detailed rule set.....what safety measures will be taken..RO's etc....what is going to be the way people are going to be accepted/denied entry ito the matches...holster courses etc...who is going to be the match directors. etc etc....
All this stuff "should" be included in a detailed rule set that is going to be used, but it doesn't exist!!!!!
These are just a few of the things you are going to have to sort out, before it ever gets to the general membership meeting...imho!
