Not as fast to reload as an AR15, or even a 858, but fast enough to be useful.

I took a medium sized flat file and opened up the stripper clip guide on the bolt. It is now much easier to get the clip inserted.

The rifle is a commercial Norinco SKS I bought 30 years ago. The pistol is also a Norinco.

Just gotta practice with the stripper clips a little bit!!!!

I'm not quite as fast with stripper clips as I am with mag changes, but no slouch either!! It helps that I've got clips I've cut down to hold 5 rounds, painted them so I know which end is the open end (I cut Czech clips in half with a Dremel) and stuff them into a SKS pouch in a certain way.

Good to see you out having fun, what range were you at?

Okay I am going to sound like an idiot. But how the hell do you load a SKS with these clips any ways. I am wondering which end of the clip you push down into the mag with. The end with the bump on it or the end you feed the shells into from. And how do you get the clip back out of the mag when it is empty.

Either side of the stripper clip is the same, you just insert it into the little notch at the front of the bolt and push the rounds down and into the mag. The stripper clips don't stay inside your mag.

Here's a clip I found on the web.

When I was a kid in England, a couple of highly experienced gentlemen taught me how to use a stripper clip (Enfield charger) the way they did in WW1 and WW2.

1) Hold the clip in your left hand bullets oriented toward your pinky, thumb toward your body, clip along your forefinger
2) left hand over the breach, fingers on the left side, thumb toward body (right side of breach)
3)insert clip, press rounds all the way down with your thumb, thumb following the line of the clip, at the bottom catch the base of the clip with your thumb and flip the clip out while withdrawing your thumb

Clips can be close enough to the speed of magazines, that a skilled individual with clips can be faster than a less skilled individual with mags.
