Yahooo 1500 hours and I'm home and gear is put away. 
Thanks for a great match... Andrew, our 2 ARSOs, Greg (doing stats)... It was fast and really on point. Yeah, we were held back a bit by a late march in process, but we made time during the practice of matches 2, 3, and 4. What a great time.
Last round downrange for 1340 hours and out the Gate #2 for 1400. Life is good...
The sun was shining, we put lots of booolits down range, I'm surrounded by great people... what's not to like?

It was a day of surprises.
When the alarm went off it was not dark outside.
There was snow on the ground. About an inch of crunchy snow. But the day was very comfortable. Like spring skiing.
We started a bit late, but were still out the gate by 1:30. (No prize giving gets us away 45 minutes faster.) We didn't have a dedicated stats person in the classroom, so we are all waiting to see the results posted here. Some of us look for our score from the bottom up. Other start reading down from the top. I had a day of only small boo-boos, so will start reading from the top.
I wore a little video camera, but did not manage to take any videos. Sorry. I have to figure out how to use it in bright light when I can't see the little LEDs.
I took a few pictures. You know how it is, no real spare time. Always something to do. Which is one of the nice features of CQB compared to, say, IDPA where you wait a lot and shoot very little.
New management was fast and efficient. The ROs kept him on track. Thanks guys.

great day shooters! Scores up now. I appreciate the hard work from all of our competitors, I don't think I had to yell at all. Huge thanks to Pat, Chuck, Dave, and Greg. I can't thank them, enough for their contributions to getting CQB running for 2017. Also big thanks to Tony and Josh for volunteering to take on target marking for next match. Great pictures Ganderite!
We'll keep the 8am gate opening and 830 safety brief timings for the rest of the year. It seemed t work well and I didn't hear any complaints.
I do need those ARO volunteers to make them selves in practiscore so we can spread out ARO duty. Same for stats.

Thanks to all the shooters for making it out. It was good to see familiar faces having fun. Special shout out to the new guys and the experienced shooters for mentoring them. I hope to see you all at next match.
That was a good start to the season. Snow, blue sky and sunshine are something I am not used in the winter to where I live. I thought we were off to a bad start when the usual parking scheme fell apart right of the bat. Turns out the other users of the range don't use the same parking plan ORA CQB does. Amateurs.
The later start worked fine. I may not have to get up at the crack of stupid to get there as early as in the past. The later end time makes so difference either. I'm only going home when I'm done.

I note more folks are bringing sawhorses to put the targets on for scoring and patching. Makes things much easier on the back and knees. More tables too for putting ammo and stuff on at the kit line. Again, easier on the body. I was stiff and sore by the time I got home. Still sore but in a good 'had a work out' way.

Scores are getting higher. I can recall when a 400 would win. It shows that we are all trying hard and getting better.

The snow made it easy to see how the muzzle devices behaved.
The linear comps blew snow forward. Nothing on the shooter.
Flash hiders blew a cloud of snow to the side and forward, with a little back onto the shooter (and onto the scope).
A brake blew lots of snow back onto the shooter and rifle.
I used a brake. Last year the ports that are directed sideways and back (which becomes down and back in M.P.) did this:

I have a linear comp in my kit, and I was prepared this year to install it for the modified prone. As I started to unscrew it, I realised that by giving it a quarter turn, the side parts could be re-oriented to the side. It was almost perfect. I got a little crap back on me. A big improvement. And I noticed the muzzle did not jump as much in the rapid fire.

Great match, thanks to all involved. Those scores set the bar high for the year!
Things I learned this time out:
- If the match calls for 3 pistol rounds on target, put 3 in the mag. Two body shots count for nothing when there's no way to make that third hole.
- Make damned sure your hand is no where near the ejection port in modified prone. Bouncing a spent casing back into the action is a great way to get a brutal stove pipe.
- Don't get so caught up in shooting you forget to bring your sights up as you move closer.
