Cracked VZ-58 receiver

Maybe I'm going blind but I don't see a crack anywhere.

Edit: Nevermind, I zoomed in and saw it. That really sucks. I've never seen anything like that either. Is the rifle still under warranty?

Have you contacted the seller for warranty? I would do that immediately, and send pictures with it.

Right against the bottom. It runs up and down, to the right of where the "grind" starts, and to the left of the "round hole".

Took my rifle apart to get refinished, and noticed a crack in the receiver. It is between the trigger group and the mag well opening. Anyone see something like this before?

Well on the bright side its not dangerous since its behind the locking lugs. I would return it ASAP. Worse case keep shooting til it falls apart "which may never happen"

is yours a VZ58S or VZ58L ? these are from marstar.

Is that not just part of the welded in block to prevent full auto parts?

It looks different than my CZ858. It appears to be a steel block that was plug welded in (that round weld bit) and then the top was ground to clean it up. what you are seing is not a crack but the seam where the two seperate pieces of metal meet.

If I am correct, then there is no issue.

Unfortunately, this rifle is 5 years old, from Milarms in Edmonton, I doubt there is warranty left on it. It is definitely a crack, if I put pressure on it, I get a little oil forced out of it then you can realy see the unevenness of it. This rifle is a "CZH 2003 Sport" as etched in the side. I am going to take it out again and see if it is getting worse, I don't see anything in the location that would make it dangerous.

Agreed.

I was looking at pictures of other VZ58 receivers and It seems like they don't even have that part, so I'm going to agree with what the others said: it's a plug of some sort, and nothing to worry about.

They possibly over-grinded the weld and exposed the gap?

Thats the gap between the receiver and block thats added to prevent the nasty parts from being fitted...no issues there.

It looks like the metal was weakend when they welded shut the spot for full auto sear. Propably metal got too much stress from the temperature from welding.

My question would be is the rifle going be safe to shoot. It is the reciver that locks the bolt so all the stress is taken by that part. If it would lock up in the barrel like Ar-16 or AK I would not worry too much but with this, may be it is batter to buy new CZ instead of having your face ruined in the worst case scenario

I dont see any problem, the welding didnt occur at the locking lug so i dont think a plug weld like that can make the rifle and /or the receiver prone to breakage.

The crack is no where near the locking lugs so yes its safe
