Hi,

I just refinished my 870 that I got from CRAFM, and I think it turned out pretty good. This is my truck/beater gun so I wasn't too concerned about a fantastic finish, I just wanted to pretty it up a little. It cost about 8 bucks to do, though I already had the stain for the forend.

Only thing missing is a mag-tube ext.
You might as well use that extra space under the barrel

I have another one I'm going to do up. I just wanted to refinish one as I recieved it and I wanted to do it really cheap. I used BBQ paint and seems to be pretty durable. It took a really long time to harden up, but it seems to be tougher that the Krylon paint job my Mossberg received.

My brother and I got a couple of them too.
He just picked up a rifle slug barrel with front and rear sights from Sail this weekend. We tried it out today at CRAFM.
Believe it or not, less recoil with the thicker, heavier, rifled slug barreled.
Downright pleasant to shoot.

Okay, I'll jump off the deep end here, or stir the pot somewhat.:) If I was in law enforcement or possibly a branch of the military, the 870 looks like a possible consideration. However, for use bird hunting, I find it hard to beat a nice OU or even better yet, a classic SxS with nice wood.:shotgun: :shotgun: A semi auto or a 'Robo cop' looking 'shell shucker' doesn't do a thing for me.

Birds wont see the difference...
congrats on the gun, looks pretty good. I used BBQ paint on my 870 trigger guards, it looked really good until I put the trigger lock, when I took it off it was polka-dotted, it looked like the paint and the rubber of the locks bonded together and the paint stayed on the lock  nothing Arwen Ace couldn't fix with a coat of teflon.

Have a 1956 FN/Browning O/U for birds and clays.
It's deadly for that.

Nice Job. I couldn't see in the pic if there is a bead on the barrel, but if you go that route put a pedestal under it to match the height of the receiver or the gun will shoot high - even with shot. I prefer a ghost ring and post, but that's just me, and might be more money than you want to invest in a truck gun.
