What decoys do you guys use for crane hunting? I have a spot they show up in every year at the beginning of the season, they aren't here long and I might do 2 hunts at most for them. Looking for something thats not gonna break the bank.

I find they are so unpredictable that I pass shoot them as "quarry of opportunity" they do tend to use quite predictable flight paths between roosting water and feeding fields. Never tried decoys.
 
The short stint I did guiding in sask we used silosock crane decoys and they worked like a hot damn! If you can find some of these I'd wager you wouldnt be breaking the bank too bad.
 
I was doing some research into this as well. Check out DiveBomb Industries. They sell both a silhouette and sock decoy that doesn't seem too expensive.

Like anything else overcook it and it's tough and tastes like crap but cook it properly and it's like eating a real high grade cut of beef. We cut the breast in thin strips, season it with montreal steak spice, lay it on a strip of bacon lengthwise and cook it low and slow on the bbq until it reaches an internal temp of 150(use a meat thermometer). Pull it off the bbq and you'll wonder why you let that last flock in range go on by unharmed!!

Nice pic Spank you are 100% right they are great eating,thats all I brought back from Sask. last week we smashed 20 in 30 minutes .
