Cranked out some .22 rounds in the basement!! New Pic's added

Yeah ditto on the wood touching concrete. Use pressure treated or buy that foam they sell to keep the wood from touching concrete. Styrofoam insulation will work best

Finally got some time to work on the room again. All the wiring got finished as well as the insulation and the vapour barrier. Also used that anti moisture paint on the walls and applied it very liberally in behind the studs. Got the drywall up, used the moisture resistant type just in case. The lights were a pain in the ass to install. Never even though to measure first, they require 5 1/4" of headroom and this room is done using 2x4 joists. Ended up fashioning two spacers out of an old 2x8. Looks like hell right now, but hope it blends in better after paint.

Got some more work done down in the gunroom again. Baseboard heater and thermostatare in. It is the smallest unit they had, but man does it heat that room up quick. I didn't even notice that when I put up the thermostat it was cranked to full. That room was a sauna in under 15 minutes!!

I was going to build the cabinetry out of old rifle crates but everyone local is sold out. The wife wants "that friggin' ugly gun cabinet" out of "her" closet so couldn't wait. I tossed together a quick table a bench combo out of 2x3 and 3/4 shelf stock. There is a gap at the end where I am going to be putting a 6' stack of metal 12x12 lockers.

Not sure what I want to do about colours yet. I am torn between just staining the wood, leaving the walls grey and doing the lockers in Black w/grey doors. Or pulling out the stencils and doing the wood and first foot or so of wall in camo and the locker in OD green and tan

Here is a shot of the room a little cleaner, and with its first new tenant.

I turned my back for two minutes and all these buggers freed themselves and made their way down to check things out as well.

So then I figured I am running dangerously low on ammo. Well other than 7.62x39, which I am so/so on.... The black ammo boxes are stuffed, one with .22LR, then .40SW, then 9mm. The cardboard box and the big camo box are full of assorted shotgun and only have about 200 rounds of .308..

where is the vapor/water barrier?

The vapour barrier is installed between the insulation and the drywall just as it is in normal construction.

if you are spraying in that foam stuff keep a slight space between the wooden frame and the concrete

I didn't use spray foam, I used a specialty paint from HD that is for sealing concrete basement walls against moisture. This was more for peace of mind though. This room has been sealed off for over two years and not a single moisture issue while we had all kinds of things stored in there. With the addition of the venting and the space heater I don't have any worries of moisture. This room is now like any other section of the basement. Just its full of guns!!

Heh...I was renovating a room in my basement a few months after I moved in to the new house and my buddy made a joke saying "You haven't even lived here a year yet and there are already casings everywhere." LOL

well you cant say you didnt design that room outright as a gun room :)

fits nicely in with the firearms act regulations if i recall

Finally got a chance to clean up the old lockers, thru a fast coat of paint on them and got them into their place. Was a very tight fit, I will have to check my tape measure! lol

It has 7.62x39 in the bottom cabinet, shotgun in the next, then .22LR, 9mm, .40 and finally .308. Just need to go pick up a set of either cheapo mailbox locks or padlocks all keyed alike.

Lockers hold a ton of ammo. There is a thousand rounds of 7.62 in the bottom locker and it is only half full.
