I saw this is in a flier tonight. They are about $100.00 off and would work pretty well for cheap reloading bench. I bought a similar model from Sears and put some additional finished plywood on the top and it seems to be pretty good. I think the Master Craft model is a better bench.

I own that bench. I can say for certain that it is very good. I do all of my reloading on it. One suggestion is to buy two and put them side by side. (I wish I had the room).

I bought one of the Sears models (for more money ) for the basement and bought one of the Crappy Tire ones for the garage. I wish I would have bought both from Crappy Tire as it seems to be a better bench,(although I haven't set it up yet). The box is way heavier.

There was a big long thread on this bench the last time it went on sale. Nice bench but there are issues mounting stuff on the front edge because of the steel frame. I want to replace the top of mine with a 3/8" piece of steel plate so I can actually mount stuff on it without the whole top coming up.

When I crank down on my Lee Pro 1000 I am scared the washers I have on the bottom side are going to tear up through the top deck of the bench.

Otherwise it's a great bench.

when i mounted my lee press on the crappy tire bench a bud told me to put a 1/2 or 1 inch thick peice of wood on top of the mounting corner for suport 18x 18 inch i also put 2 bolts on the other end to keep the top from poping up all the time i hit a stiff brass

I have the same bench except it was $75 on sale, probably because it didn't have the "galvanized" top. I just made a top out of two pieces of 3/4" ply laminated together. Solid as a rock and works great now.

I think I paid 100 bux for one at peavy mart that was pretty similar. It has the light as well but has four drawers. I moved the drawers to the bottom and made some cheap track/slide panels in front of the shelf. I moved the drawers to the bottom so I could still get them open once the presses were in place. I also cut up a 3/4" thick piece of plywood into four pieces and glued bonded them together for a 3" thick counter top. It is nice and heavy with no flex. I could use two of them easily but I have no room for it in this little house right now.

built my own bench for under 40$

3'x4' laminate 3 inch thick laminate surface, 4''x4'' legs, one shelf of storage between the legs

easy done, sturdy as hell.

Thanks for the 411 brother, on my way to CDN tire now!

It's a good bench. Here's mine:

I've had mine for over a year, and it's served well, though the cheap pressboard should probably be replaced and I'll need to reinforce the bottom soon to better hoarde, uh, I mean hold my ammo boxes. ;)
Oh, I learned that the strip on the front isn't a really suitable footrest. :p

When I got it, they weren't putting the galvanized sheet on to cover the top. I don't think the galv. sheet will really help with the stresses from sizing and depriming. What I did was weld a couple of aluminum plates together (1/4" and a 3/4") and bolt them through the top to more 1/4" plates below the bench top. This way the benchtop pressboard isn't taking the strain from the presses - the bolts and the aluminum sandwich are.
I put my turret press over the leg and the smaller one (for light jobs like bullet pulling) just a bit further back.
I wouldn't try putting the press in the front and center. It's just too far from the support of the legs for my liking. That, and it cuts the useable workspace in half.

I was considering making a work/reloading bench from lumber (I may still - probably on next move, though), but this one came up for sale. I haven't looked back.

Looks like a reasonable bench on sale again. Are any of you able to post pics of how you mounted the press with the reinforcements? I currently have a rockchucker and a bench setup similiar to Charles and would like to get an idea as to what/where mods you gents are adding.

Ahh, thanks for the pics craftsman 441! Spend some time in YOD?

Much appreciated and thanks for the heads up,
D
