Crate Bike (Triumph TR7) unearthed at Crown Surplus after 50+ years of storage.

There were rumours of those bikes around in the 1960s but I never actually heard of anyone getting one.

I remember when Princess Auto in Winnipeg was offering WWII Harley 45's in the crate for .... the princely sum of $300 !!!!

this is only a publicity stunt to try and get more customers in the door. when your suffering advertise more. LOL

Do not think so, I would kill for the opportunity of poking around there for a couple of hours. Can think of a bunch of gems that came out of there. Talking genuine surplus store, going back to the early 60s here, Gordies dad started the business . Stuff they sell now is for the Yuppy Weekend warriors. Laurie Skreslets, the Everest climber spent a good of his real working life :). working for Gordie and is still a good friend I gather. Remember when Gordie bought a Churchill tank, made the paper when they drove it from the railway station.

Grizz

Gord had every thing in that store, and on the property inventoried. in around 1995, and thats when his kids started changing everything, and running the store.

I had one of the TRW's still in the crate, back in the eighties. I couldn'the make up my mind whether to keep it or ride it. I eventually sold it to a military collector from Erie, PA who was going to keep it in the back of his Canadian military truck. A chum has one with about sixty miles on it and I've ridden it. The suspension is a couple of springs under the seat, so the ride is interesting.

A friend of mine bought one of those and still has it! He did however sporterize it a bit at some point and now it's being stored at an undisclosed location.

I'll have to ask him about it next time I see him.

I sure as heck would not turn down a shot at a brand new TRW in the crate....I was looking at a very used one of these yesterday at a motorcycle meet.

I've been hearing of these crate bikes for a long time.
