So had a few empty crates siting around and wanted to see what would fit.
Turns out it will hold 16 value boxes of Federal 22.
I think I will seal it up and save it for a rainy day.

Aw crap, that's not fair!!! That Federal bulk stuff is great, never had any problems with it in any of my guns. Could you please tell me where you got it? They stopped carrying it where I used to get it.

read his post and see that he bought 3 cases several years ago....

I hate you now.

Just kidding, it's only a mild envy with a light wash of tears. I used to shoot that much of that ammo in a fortnight sometimes, pretty hard to stockpile for that.

I find shooting ammo to be more fun than hoarding it...but that is just me. Some folks like to collect stuff and sit in their dens and "look" at it. No criticism intended, just a comment on your comment.

Or another point of view is to buy a truck load of it when the price is right. I've never run out of .22cal and I shoot as much as I want ,when i want. Its also a valuable trading commodity right now :)

It's interesting that we used to have a wooden case of Russian 22 ammo. Don't remember if it was in a spam can, but the case contained around 6000 or 7000 rounds.

Really I have never seen that.
It would be nice if we could get more.

It was many years ago. Russian steel cased 22 ammo. However the stuff that was imported was really variable in quality (we might have gotten some in the US, at a time when it was OK to export it without permits, ie, before 2002). Some was the absolutely worst ammo ever. Surplus that wasn't stored properly. Yet other Russian steel cased ammo was match quality.
