Crazy prices

Crazy prices nothing, you heard about our .69 Cnd shekel ?
When store owners/managers booked their 2025 inventory they never anticipated such a weak $.
These prices will be reflective of this come late July - August when that inventory starts to trickle in.
Time will tell to prove me wrong I suppose.

I don't know if vendors have to "pay on order" or "pay on shipping" but the CAD$ should recover when LeTurd is removed. Hope that jugmeat bails on him soon ! so we can get an "Early Election". The lowered 'Prime" didn't help and the 'Rat fick' in OT is what's F-ing the dollar IMO.

As a former purchasing agent/department manager in retail, a certain amount of product is "booked" or better put pre-ordered for the coming year. Once the business takes receipt, they will have generally a 30 day interest free or low interest period to settle the account. After that , interest rates on the product order increase at day 60 and day 90. Fall bookings for spring delivery will be affected by a weakening dollar as any loss to the dollar from the time of booking and the discounts offered, will come off of the projected profit margins for that pre booked order. You can pretty much count on price increases across the board for anything firearms related. My guess? a 12 to 20% jump is coming by April.

Broden, as I've mentioned the best deals are to use vendors with free shipping - usually $2-300 miin order. 2-3 boxes of C-fire and a couple bricks of 22LR can 'make the nut'. Or a Spam of CHI-x39 gets you close, plus something else.

I have made the decision to mostly buy from vendor with free shipping above $###. I realize the advertisers here are of every size but if many biz can provide free shipping than their competitors should do as well. I generally email if I find something I want from a source who charges for shipping. I ask for a price and shipping cost match. I give them a chance. Sometimes if they make an effort but are still a little higher I may go with them anyhow.

I feel it's an insult to us if a vendor wants top dollar for smaller items, for example, rings. Then $35+ is tacked on for shipping. NFW. CP sells a box that's a fair size and can hold 5kg and it costs $20 anywhere in Canada. So remind me again why any vendor is charging $35+ to ship rings/scopes/mags/many many assorted items?

I also am expecting an across the board hike of 20% for everything. I think the days of sub $1000 rifles, whether new, mil-surp; domestic made or foreign are rapidly drawing to a final curtain call. The Savage Axis II and Chinese SKS may be the last affordable men standing once the remaining bans and price hikes hit the dealers.

That's ridiculously sad for a country with millions of rifles and hundreds of thousands of pistols in the hands of responsible owners. The days of $99 SKS and $59 M1 carbines will be considered nothing more than urban legends to the next generation.

If the turd reich isn't flushed in October then the mere existence of Sks rifles and m1 carbines in Canada, not to mention every semi auto firearm will be nothing more than an urban legend to the next generation, at least in retail stores anyway. There'll still be plenty in current owners hands that'll never get turned in. 😉

That's only if we listen to the most corrupt government in Canadian history

there are no insurance options for those prepaid boxes and this is the reason they are seldom used for shipping retail goods.
I don't know about you but I want what I order to be covered for potential loss or damage.

Wow, we never..even in the remote areas, I will admit that even canadian tire don't sell .22 cal rifles in the city that I'm aware. Some will have ammo but you'd have to go about an hour away from mtl to find a rifle.
We had enough of a scandal when stores with pharmacies couldn't sell cigarettes!!
I have for sure purchased ammo at the CT in Vaudreuil in the last 5 years, and I'm pretty sure they had firearms though I didn't buy any.
May I ask? Where are you guys that have ammo at Walmart? We don't even have pellet guns in Quebec🙄
The Walmarts I have been to in Qc used to sell ammo, but stopped sometime in the last decade.
Must be nice, here, they even bag and 3scort you to the cash when you buy ammo at CT, that's at the stores that have it,
They do that at every CT I've bought ammo at (BC, On, Qc, Man, NS). What CT carries depends on who is running the store. The CT in Dolbeau, Qc had the nicest selection of firearms I've ever seen at any store except prophet river (which is a dedicated retailer). They had over 400 in stock, including some high end stuff from Sauer, Mauser, very nice Sakos, CZs etc. The owner bought another location somewhere in Ontario and they packed up all the firearms to bring to the new location. It's common for the urban locations to have poor or no selection, regardless of province.
Lol wait till you see prices in Quebec. 1 we don't have ammo.2- it's more expensive here than any.other province-3 even "by owner" some sellers think that selling at cost is a deal!
There were certainly deals to be had in Qc. Pre-2020, it was possible to consistently find the least expensive ammo in brick and mortar stores, particularly at Sail (who have a great 10% military discount). Some site sponsors that offer free shipping and GST-only could sometimes, but not always, beat them. Their price for flats of target shotgun ammo was untouchable. I've dropped in to sail a few times since 2020 and it's still better than most brick and mortar stores out West. There were exceptional buys at CTs in Quebec for clearance items which, again, is set by individual stores. I'm still working through my stash of ammo that I bought for below the store's cost in Quebec.

As someone who lives in Montréal, like I said, I always had to get out of town, I didn't know about vaudreuil and. DOLBEAU, is dead center of hunting for Québec, lac st jean , granted is a different world.
Glad everyone has had better experiences in my home province than I have.
I usually just cross to Cornwall or hawksbury. Save the taxes and usually money.

Happy holidays everyone.
