I plan on reloading with 250 NAB's which can get about (almost) 30-06 180gr velocities. You can go heavy and slow or reasonably quick with your 9.3

Of the bases you had in mind why not keep it simple and stick with weavers, flexible and rings and bases are available anywhere should you ever need parts or replacements. Not the prettiest but very practical.
The Swarovski Z3 is perhaps the best all around stalking rifle scope, light and bright. And great quality.
An illuminated 8x56 with great glass.... the classic German solution for low light situations. I happened to get a good deal on a Zeiss 3-12x56 HT which I find to be a very flexible scope, top notch for any stand hunting. But a fixed 8x56 would be great for what you said you want it for.
I also use an aimpoint 9000L, it’s a great sight and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one. I haven’t used the H30 to compare it to though.

I went with a Leupold 1.5x5x20 in Warne QDs, they come off fast and I think they have the rear lug that keys into the BRNO/CZ receiver.

It's the BRNO single set trigger. It really doesn't make sense for my short range use but if it was used for long range like elk hunting it might be useful.
I've just (today) installed a Swarovski Z5 2.4x12x50 BT, on my Sako Bavarian 9.3x62, tucked in behind the rear iron sight, with enough room to remove scope caps, still got 4" eye relief, was looking for a dial type turret, with custom option ie CDS in 2.5x8x36, could find one, probley don't need 12 power at the top, but with this rifle heading back to NZ as my med bore, the better quality optics and light gathering, may pay dividends,
It's all about exit pupil size. As long as the scope's exit pupil is at least 7mm, the human eye will perceive it as full brightness for the conditions because the eye cannot open more than 7mm (in low light; the pupil is about 2mm in daylight). Exit pupil size is ocular diameter ÷ magnification. Most 1-4x scopes are actually 1.3-ish on the low end. A 1-4x20mm would have exit pupil of 15mm on low power and 5mm on max power. So at 4x the image WILL appear dark but at 1x it will not. Science. Coatings that improve light transmission compared to bare glass help regardless of exit pupil size. Leupolds have decent coatings.
Magnification counts too. An 8x with a 7mm exit pupil will be brighter than a 4x with a 7mm exit pupil. There is a practical limit. An 8x would need a 56mm objective, a 10x, 70mm.
That's assuming you have young eyes with pupils that can actually still open to 7mm.
I have a Leupold VX 3 1.75-6x32 on mine. Since it's a CZ I have one piece ringmounts. I think Weaver #45 & #46 will fit Mauser 98's. Talley ring mount code is M12. Lots of good suggestions above too. One thing the tech at Leupold cautioned was running out of elevation depending on what you decide to put on it since it can shoot heavier bullets. I had called him to see if the scope I have on it would be suitable for the 9.3

Should be able to do both functions should it not? Forward for single set, rearward for regular trigger use, unless I'm missing your point. I have original BRNO's that came with both the regular trigger and set trigger. Took the set triggers out, wasn't a real fan of them.
yes, that's correct. You can just pull the trigger like normal, or you can push it forward to set it for when you want a lighter trigger pull.
Yes it'll shoot with or without setting the set trigger. I bought the rifle used and it only came with the SS trigger.
It works well in either mode.
I do the same most of the time.
The recoil and muzzle blast can be a little sharp especially when it's my less gun experienced geologist buddies trying it out. The last thing I want is for them to use the set trigger.
My Brno ZG-47 in 9.3X62 is currently set up with a Leupold Vari-X III 1.75-6eX32 scope in Alaska Arms quick detachable rings. The scope has a heavy duplex reticle that took a while to warm up to but now I’m used to it, I doubt I’d go back to a standard duplex. It is great in dim light in thick bush.
As a back-up to the scope, I carry a NECG ghost ring sight for use with a NECG CZ patridge front sight.
