Interesting. Would have liked to have seen how they lived on their 10 day hunts during the winter, but I suspect I know.

Whelenlad, at the 19 minute mark, there are the Mountain Goose Feathers I've mentioned in one of your previous threads.

Not letting dogs chew on the bear bones (or the front legs of deer) must be of great age as I've heard the same thing, and not from Cree people.

Once you get away from the coast, the bear is too valuable for meat and especially oil to ignore.
 
A dear old friend of mine, now passed on, told me he was raised by his grandparents, on the Cowessess First Nation. My friend was an artillery man in WW2, so it gives you an idea of the era. He said his grandfather spent all his time gathering food for the family. The old fellow trapped sparrows, gathered eggs when in season, for example. There were no whitetail deer in the area back then.
