Ever since I had my 264WM rechambered to 7RM, I've had a desire to own another 6.5 and figured what the heck, let's try something new so I had a Creedmoor built. It just showed up in the mail today. At sub six pounds, it should make a heck of a new sheep/goat rifle. Now to mount a scope and shoot it this weekend. If it shoots as good as it looks we should be set for goat hunting in August!

Very nice! I have the Creedmoor in a Savage LRP and I'm seriously eyeing up my spare stainless barrel in 6.5 for a lighter hunting gun as well.
I haven't shot the GMX load yet but mine sure likes the factory 129 SST.

The .260 is a 6.5mm too... So that point is moot. I have both... My Creedmore is a Rem 700 action with a Krieger #3 taper 22" barrel... I love the 6.5's and would never knock the .260 Rem, but the Creedmore is a special cartridge, it is very efficient and stable, is very tolerant of a variety of loads and bullets and is extremely accurate... I am working on a Handi Ultra stub project in Creedmore as we speak... It will vie for my attention Versus my stubbed .260 Rem. Sheephunter, you will love the cartridge... Perfect for what you love to do.

I have heard a few say; "what's the point of a Creed with a 7mm-08 or .260 in the safe..." And if you want to purely argue ballistics on paper, there may well be validity to that argument... But my experience on targets and in the field lead me to believe that the Creed is "special..." Every time it goes bang, I say a silent thank-you to the ballisticians at Hornady... And the Creed uses the coolest brass of anything I shoot.

It's a 1:8" twist. I believe it is a new model action...I'm not certain of the Model # though. There have been a few mods done to the action and bolt as well. When I started the build I was going to use a Defiance action but the wait time to get it was too long to meet my timeline for an August goat hunt so that's why the Stiller. I honestly don't know much about it.

Its nice to see they went 1:8". The biggest gripe I have on the 260 is the 1:9" twist which limits the use of heavy bullets - granted they do not necessarily fit that well in a short action anyways, but that, to me, is the real advantage of the 6.5x55 over a 260.

My stubbed .260 is a 1:8... and so will be my stubbed Creedmoor... my 700 action Creedmoor is a 1:8 also and spits the full range of bullets accurately.
