You guys that are using Hornady brass, don't you find the case head to be to soft? I've tried .270 Win, 7mm-08, .243 Win, .223 Rem. All of it showed ejector marks WAY early. So early with .223 that I wouldn't have found the node that I run with Win NT or LC brass. Experience with Hornady has shown me that you give up 100-150fps to using harder brass.
Funny you should say this - my first experience with Lapua brass was in my semi-custom .284. The starting loads for development showed slight imprinting and scrub! In February! That starting load was 3 grains below what I finally settled on for a keeper. And for the record, no loose pockets and my 168 VLD's are going 2860 avg, so it's up there but not excessive. My Winchester brass in the same rifle shows nothing. Yep, surprised me too.
Plenty of "stories" out there with little to no solid evidence to back up the position taken for many loads/rifles. For the record I shoot Hornady brass exclusively in my 6.5 Creedmoor and in my .204 Ruger with zero problems so far. It works for me and that's all I give 2 craps about. If someone else experiences issues I can understand that as there have never been two identical guns off any production line - any company can build a "lemon" at 4 pm on a Friday. I'm just one of the 6.5 fans that doesn't believe it was a lucky, one-time purchase.
I'm sticking to what works, and like sheep, I too will keep enjoying my ridiculously small groups! (and for the glass "haters" out there...it also wears a Vortex scope!!!)
Yup, stick with what works. And if it works for you...great! I guess I unintentionally stuck my foot in my mouth AGAIN. That is the problem with the internet, the written word conveys no emotion (at least not my written words!). I think the Creedmore is a dandy cartridge, and I will likely own one day, you know...when I am rich and famous!
