Hi Nutz, I'm finally getting around to taking the restricted course. With the election looming ifeel i better do it now before its too late. The catch is I don't have my paperwork from my PAL course (house fire it'sgone) Can I get copies of that from somewhere? I took that course so long ago I don't even remember the name of the instructor.
Thanks in advance

If he had copies, it means they weren't submitted, therefore they have no record on file. You have to retake the course

If you have your NR PAL, no other paperwork is required. You are simply doing an upgrade. However if you never submitted your application for the PAL youwill have a problem. Your instructor is required by order, to keep copies for 7yrs. If u can contact your instructor(if you end up recalling), or the company if applicable they should have a copy. Failing that, contact the CFO office as they too have 1 copy on file but they may be reluctant to assist. If all else fails, you will most likely be required to repeat the course again.

Nonsense. Your valid PAL is proof that you have met the requirement in order to take the Restr class/exam. Be sure to use your NR PAL # as ID on your Course Report as well as on the application.
Good luck with the course

I didn't need any paper work to challenge the restricted course so if you are taking the course and have your valid PAL there should be no other requirements. Now if you are trying to get out of taking the full CFRSC course he would need proof you have done the CFSC within the last year. Otherwise it's "this is a head stamp". If you don't have your "Golden Ticket" aka course report from your CFSC, you should be able to get a copy from the CFO. You will want to keep these handy as if your PAL expires, you need these to get reapply. Now unless he wants proof that you took the course in the first place as per the common sense firearms act but you are taking a course to which the first part is identical for both the CFSC and the CFRSC but you are already a PAL holder. The "must take a course" part of the new law applies only to first timers not current holders, correct?

CFC will have an electronic copy of your CFSC results on file. I just went through the same stupud crap when I went to take my hunting course in July. I took the PAL/RPAL at the same time back in 2000 so the paper work was long gone. They would have had me pay an extra $100 to retake the course for my PAL which I already had, and waste an entire day doing so because the CFSC is part of the hunting course, and the province and feds don't speak apparently. Luckily a call to the CFC got me a copy emailed in about 5 mins....

.... because the CFSC is part of the hunting course....

No it isn't. One is Federal and one is Provincial. In BC, if you have a PAL and take the hunting course (C.O.R.E.), you will be excused from the practical firearms handling test but there is still a written component on the CORE test regarding firearms that you must do. If you do not have a PAL and you take the hunting course, you will have both the written and practical tests to pass and doing so DOES NOT constitute "getting your PAL". Having a hunting license and no PAL means you must hunt with a person with a PAL accompanying you and under their DIRECT supervision.

Is in Quebec, I just went through it. You had to prove you took the CFSC in order to be exempt. Didn't matter if you had an FAC for 40 years, CFSC is part of the hunting course here.

Well I stand corrected and I'm amazed (once again) at the differences from East to West.

"Differences from east to west" .......... When I moved from Manitoba to Ontario I thought that I had moved to a different country!
