cricket

my butcher uses one to slaughter cattle, they would not let him use a pistol anymore, so now he uses the "best in youth firearms" they are tiny rifles

I just want to know if they are worth it...they feel very cheap when you hold and operate them. I thought of cutting down a cooey I have so it fits my son but he wont be a little guy forever.

The Crickets are nice little guns for sure, but I agree that they are a tad expensive for what they are.

I'd suggest a Savage/Stevens Cadet mini-youth. They sell for under $200 in Canada (and are made here as well!) and are great little rifles. They also come with very nice peep sights.

I thought the Crickets were overpriced for what they are quality wise too. There's lot's of better youth models out there. I was going to get my daughter a Cricket but I'm letting her use my Anschutz Woodchucker instead. Search this Forum for youth and you'll see a lot of good threads to read through.

bought one for my daughter when she was born! it was the only small .22 that i could find with a pink laminate stock. bought it a little more that a year ago. they do feel kind of cheap. i like the " bolt lock" that's right in the stock just in front of thr trigger guard. i kind of expected it to feel that way just because of the size. i've taken a few shots with it just fooling around and make my friends laugh. seems to work well and is pretty accurate with the peep sight. here's a picture of it next to my .50 cal t/c to show the size difference. if i ever have a son i won't hezitate to buy another one.

You owe it to yourself and your son to check out the Henry Mini-Bolt. Got one for my grandson to use. Great little rifle with features that made it my choice after researching all the others, including the Cricket.

Got my girls a Savage Cub w/AccuTrigger. It's a bit bigger than the Cricket or Chipmunk & shoots well. Has traditional safety instead of pull the bolt back like the others. Cost just over the $200 @ WSS 2 years ago. I painted the stock pink w/butterflies a few weeks ago. Sorry, No camera, no pics.

I looked at the pink laminate one last week at Shooter Choice in Waterloo for my daughter.
The .22 's I use now are just to big for her to hold up AND look down the sites.
They are cool, small & light but for $289.00 plus tax, I'll be lookin at others!

Thankyou for the imput..all of you. If there is any more feel free to add comments on other youth .22s. I'll be buying one soon...snow is melting and saw my first gopher of he year on Friday......I did want to be cost effective with this as I am buying myself a new.22 as well. I live out away from anywhere you can purhase firearms and want to pick them up togehter for the conveinence factor. I was lookin at keeping it under 600.00 bucks for both.

Thanks again
