Noticed my "new to me" BLR 358 tosses the odd flyer. Wondering that due to such shallow seating if doing something like a lee factory crimp might keep things more consistent?

you can start by working up your powder charge from minimum again. sometimes a heavy crimp will add a lot of pressure to a high pressure load.

I do a light crimp into the cannelure on Hornady 200 SP-RP's... over 48 grains of Varget... which is lightly compressed when FL sized... OAL finishes @ 2.700"... it is a nice load for accuracy in my BLR and M77... I my H&R Ultra single, I shoot the 250 SP-RP's and seat them out to 3.000" due to the long throat and no magazine restriction... allows a little more powder also... that is about as stout as you can get in a .358.
