Seem to be having a hard time crimping this round.
My RCBS die is pushing the bullet in the case too deep before the case rim makes contact with the crimp in the seating die. I should mention the bullet seater has been removed from the die?
This cartridge needs to be crimped to function properly in my Win 94 would a lee crimp die work better or some other taper crimp die?

Fresh Starline brass trimmed to Spec.
200 gr, RN lead bullet (Bullet barn)
30 grs. Triple 7

The Lee Factory Crimp Die is what you need. Crimping should be done separate from bullet seating. Are you loading smokeless, or Holy Black?

Sorry, didn't see the part about 777. Make sure you don't compress this powder. I bought some a while back, and it was too hot. Thought I was shooting a full power .44 Magnum, instead of .45 Colt. Ended up using it in my shotgun loads for Cowboy Action. Black powder is easier to work with in my opinion.

Good luck!

Using Triple 7 sort of black maybe not so Holy

I was just wondering if the Lee crimp would work the 94 seems pretty fussy about hanging up on the case rim.
Can't find a Lee crimping die anywhere except Ebay $25 + 25 shipping they are back ordered everywhere

Like Olof said, 44-40 should be crimped in a separate operation. (same goes for 38-40, 32-20 and 25-20) Case mouth is very thin with these cartridges, and trying to seat bullets and crimp in one operation will result in buggered reloads
