First of all I'm pretty new to reloading and I have a question regarding roll vs. taper crimping.
My understanding is that roll crimps are typically better for revolvers, and bullets with cannelures. Taper crimps are used more with semi-auto pistols, and mainly to remove the bell/flair from the case.
Now here's my problem. This is the first time that I'm reloading wadcutters for my S&W 686. I have some Cam-Pro plated .38 caliber 148gr HBWC (hollow base wadcutters) bullets. The manufacture recommends a heavy roll crimp for this projectile, but my Dillon crimp die only does taper crimps.
Please advise - THANKS !!!
