Crimping the .45ACP

I am switching to a S&W 625 and would like some input on crimping . Should i crimp as I would for the 1911 or should I roll crimp as for revolver ammo i.e. .357 etc.

The 625 will use moon clips so the crimp is not important as it is in a 1911 where it head spaces on the front of the case.

IMO the crimp in a 625 is not an issue . If it were me however I would keep the crimp the same as for a 1911 in case they wind up in one.
 
Just crimp the round to hold the projectile and enough to get rid of the brass belling for purpose of sitting the bullet. This will not be an issue especially if you have chamfered cylinder, which is a benefit when using moon clips to load rounds designed for 625.
You dont need a tight crimp for revolvers.
 
Use a Lee Carbide Factory Crimp die. It's the cat's pyjamas for pistol rounds IMO, as it post sizes the round as well.

Probably not needed in a revolver, but it does just plain work.
 
I realize that it is not as important in a revolver ,but i was thinking more about consistancy and accuracy. But I see the point of keeping it the same as for my 1911 just in case the auto ever gets used again .
So keep the taper and go shooting ?
 
I also use the Lee Factory crimp die, I haven't been in the game long, but in all my endeavers I have always found to consistancy is the key to success. (Pistol vs revolver crimping).
