I'm slowly getting into reloading and heard about crimping the case.I want to reload 40 s&w and 9mm.What is crimping and do these rounds need to be crimped.

Canuck44 said:All you want to do with the 9MM is apply a taper crimp. Just remove the belling same with .45acp. Both cartridges headspace off the mouth. Can't speak to the .40cal as I don't reload for it but I suspect it is the same. Bullet is retained in the case by friction.
