Critical differences between ipsc and 3 gun rules?

On the topic of military/le gear, I have a couple more thoughts...
1) If the true goal is promoting the sport, why not welcome the mall ninjas with open arms? First, they'll give us a good laugh, then they're gonna see that the top guys are walking billboards, so they'll end up becoming walking billboards themselves. It's natural in every sport.
2) A good point in this thread was made about defining what camo/military/LE gear is...
-Is it wearing camo boxers?
-Is it wearing CF surplus boots?
-What about that CF surplus wool sweater that I like to wear in 5 to -10 degree weather?
-Is it the 2" duty belt that I bought from a police supply store that fits my rifle mag pouches of choice great and that doubles as both my 3gun and my IPSC Rifle/Mini-Rifle belt?
Leave too much to MD's interpretation and this rule starts working against our RD's stated goal of making things equal for everyone.
3) While I don't dress for war, when my club has non-denominational downrange rifle/pistol training sessions, one of the regulars is a white collar professional who dresses for war and a blue collar professional who dresses for a SWAT raid. They are both good guys and credit to our club and our training group. They are safe shooters and they'd do well if they decided to compete in action shooting games. What benefit do we have in excluding those types other than acting like a a high school "cool girls" club?
I am thinking you are not sure how AMU works....pretty much anything that was ever invented for competition use is issued to the AMU!
It is actually a pretty decent system.....the guys that actually know how to shoot....aka The AMU...tries out all the stuff, and passes only the gear that is relevant to the soldiers in the field....of course with the proper check and balances that go along with any government procurement process
From what I understand, Daniel just returned from his latest tour. It would certainly be to the advantage of anyone in his company to learn his skills.
Understand that...but running competition gear that the amu happens to occassionally issue to deployed.units is not exactly horner "running us army issued gear". Horner is running competition gear plain and simple, some of it may be suitable for military but a lot wont be

I can't say for sure....I do understand that the AMU is a proving ground of sorts for equipment, and techniques. What works for competition may just work for battle...and Vic versa....optics....handgurds....sights...all open season for the AMU....just have a quick look at what the military uses now compared to 20 years ago....can you say that the AMU hasns't influenced the equipment?
Looking back, I missed this gem of a post....I agree 100%.....euxx....the message you delivered is confirmed....I am not judging you by your attire at all...and you wearing specific attire has not influenced my opinion of you at all...of that you can be assured.
Unfortunately, you have not lived up to the standard of the D-Shoot Pants. Thanks for trying out......try again next year when you can be assured our standards will be lowered!

AR15 wasn't born in the competition arena, neither was the 1911 which the 2011 is the evolution of.
If the battlefield wasn't a 2 way range, do you think the gear they use would be that much different than what you see at competition?
The need to wear body armour and carry a bunch of other stuff over and above what you need to complete a course of fire dictates what soldiers wear.
IPSC/3gun gear is as tactical/practiacl as it gets.
The gear you see at competition is an evolution of sorts, not constrained by government contracts and bureaucrats who don't know any better. Its pure.
What I'm trying to say is, when I compete I feel like a member of seal team 10 (that's 4 better than team 6) and as such I will be wearing camo D shoot pants as tight as I can withstand.
Not only will I look tactical and ###y, but the constriction of my lower extremities will help keep blood in my upper body for when I experience high G turns while running around a stage.
It will be the purest form of high speed and low drag.
