Crony question

I acquired a used crony from a friend(red in colour) I was going to use it one day when I was told that they don't work without the two wires and difuser that make up the triangle above it, forgive me i don't know the parts proper name.

Is this true??

The metal rods merely support the defusers and allow you to center your rounds through the screens so they can read your bullets going by. I would recommend purchasing some rod material and place them in the 4 recesses provided. Ensure your rounds are centered and remember that your rounds will be about 2" above your scope's reticle. The two screens should work then. Set the chrony about 10 feet from the muzzle and align the barrel and chrony with a target. This will get you going and the only problems you may have is that lack of defusers in bright light. Good luck.

I believe this is in error, and should read 1½-2" BELOW the crosshair, not above. Eagleye.

You can use it without the guide rods but it is much easier to align when you have them depending on size plastic or aluminum pin rod or dowels usually work good

I have used mine with and without. It works regardless.
