I don't know what a helicopter costs per hour, but it must pay.

Where do I sign up for that job? :D

And yes, that was an excellent choice in music ... shame they muted the natural sounds of the chopper and the shotgun :(

I have a bit of a problem with this. It looks like there are quite a few wounding shots. Although the video doesn't show him coming back to finish them off, I would hope he does...

Yes, I understand they are a pest, and I have no problem with shooting them. I have a problem with wounding them and letting them suffer.

Ick.

I remember reading a book on African hunting by, I think, John Hunter, a famous old-breed white hunter. He said the saddest job he ever had was culling elephants in places where they'd overpopulated a reserve. I'm starting to understand what he meant.

While it's no doubt a necessary job, it seems about as sporting as hunting musk-ox.

I think people are missing the point here...this isn't sport or even sustenance hunting, it is pest control. As for not being able to do this because of gov't etc...pfft. Look into it some more, sonny.

That sums it up very well, imagine a couple of these damn things in your back yard and see if you worry about wounding them.Pest control is exactly what it is.

The CASR prohibit the transport of loaded firearms on board an aircraft. It has nothing to do with the firearms act or any provincial regs. It has all to do with transport Canada. Not even peace officers are allowed. Although I doubt any one would cite them for it.

Relax.

and the diffrence between killing feral pigs and killing gophers is? ......

both destroy valuable farmland , and from what I have seen the pigs are an even bigger problem than the gophers......or do you have a problem with gopher shooting as well ?

Did I say I was against this? No? I am all for pest control. They are a invasive species. Do what you want with them for all I care.

That's maybe what the regs say but I know different. Canada does use RCMP as air marshals, they just don't broadcast it. And don't be trying to tell anyone different. My neighbor when worked in Toronto is one.

CASR also prohibit flight under 1000 agl over built up areas.......but there is a system in place that the operator can apply for a temporary exemption to operate lower than stated in the regs...........don't see why pest control is any different.......in fact there was a helicopter wolf cull in BC several years ago
