Crosman 2289G

With the Disco using 2000psi fills,a regular scuba tank will give you plenty of fills. If you look around, you can pick up a 88cf alum tank for $100.00 used.I get mine filled to 3350psi,it will cool down to 3200psi.I'll fill my Condor tank to 2300 psi and use the FX pump to touch it up.This way i don't have to do much pumping because i let my scuba tank do the most work.
With you already having a QB78,you can just buy a MagnumAir Valve and bulk end cap and you'll have your rifle shooting 900fps on HPA or use co2 to run 750fps.Duel Power:rockOn:Better trigger, better breach, better barrel than the Discovery.Pending of course if it's the regular or deluxe model you have.So many ways to go eh?

were going to have to start a new thread.

walter school us on what can be "safely" done to the qb78.

i have read about guys turning these it to PCP's but it starts to sound like an air powered pipe bomb with a wooden stock.

if i could convert my 78, then all i have to do is buy a pump.

starting to sound affordable and fun

I usually use my Pump for my .177 Disco. It isn't too much work... really. I get 35 shots for 60 pumps... The pump doesn't take up that much room. In saying that I am in the process of buying a couple of used scuba tanks. I used a scuba tank last weekend to fill my Disco and I love it. I will wear the barrel out using the tank. I loved the scuba tank! I would be happy with either. My Disco shoots under .2 at 25 meters with Crosman Premier lights.

The 2289's are good and light... if they are for the kids to plink with don't worry... they have no problem pumping as long as they are having fun.

Have fun,

Chris

Co2 can reach 1300psi in hot weather,so the factory tube needs to be able to be able to be safe at that pressure(and above for the safety factor).I myself will run 1350psi..Over the last 3.5 years, there has been lots of QB's built and sold with shooters using 1500-1600psi on a regular bases(over an extended period of time) with no problems. The valve needs to be extra secured for safety,so as it stays in place(ie,pinned with 3 screws instead of one). Now,it's the guys running 1200-1500psi in the 22xx platforms that scare me.With the crosmans, the co2 pressure is not in the tube, but only directly into the valve. With the QB's,the tube itself fills with the co2 pressure when the capsules are pierced. Now you don't need to take my word on this, but i have done a few tears of reading and asking ?'s to the guys who tune these and sell them. Also to the guys who have owned them and used them for a few years to see if there were any problems.Non so far and no one has had a hiccup with any pressure failure.

I've got a QB78 with a QB79 tank block that I just recently started shooting with HPA reg'd to 850PSI (approx).

It was done by a guy named Dan who goes by Sniper on the CAF forum. It's definately not stock, but not as hot as some I've heard of.

The numbers were 845 FPS with Crossman Premier HP 14.3gr and 590 with Ein Jun 34gr.
Either one of those is a powerful combination. I'm now going to spend some time getting the weight off of the hammer to get me a lot less noise and more shots.

Wow Grantmac,Sniper did a fine job on your 79,those are great #'s for 850 psi! With 1350psi i squeeze out about another 75fps than you.On the normal length QB78 tube bulked i get about 9 good shots.Like i said earlier in the thread, check out UltimateAirguns for more info on the mods you can do and get.;)Tons of info there.
