Hey everyone,

I need a bit of advice. I have a Crosman Nitro Venom in 177 which I've had for a year or two. I finally dragged it out of the safe, and I've been having some issues with the barrel unlocking once it has been cocked. Anybody ever had this issue? What did you do to fix it?

Is the spring loaded pin under the breech moving freely?

If you take it apart, is there a black plastic clip on the cocking linkage?

Yes, it was. Turns out this kind of a known issue and the alive jam needs to be fitted. I fit mine a bit to much, Gravel Agency is sending me 2 new ones and a new spring. Probably will run it stock and see if a new one fixed the issue. If not I will try and fit it again.

Update for anyone else experiencing this issue. A new jam and spring didn't fix my problem. I will try and fit the jam a bit better this time. I will use my Dremel instead of my angle grinder. It just needs a little nudge to fix this issue. I will update this thread once I'm happy with the lockup.

Another update (fixed): I went through all my dremel bits and found a stone that was approximetally the same diameter as the barrel pivot and ground a spot on the rear (away from the chisel point). I ligthly ground here at a fairly low speed and it finally sits up higher when locked. I also oversized the hole where the alive jam sits. I noticed it was super tight in there and I now have the full range of motion. Havn't shot it yet to see if my erratic accuracy is gone.
