Crossbow for deer.

excaliburs will be easily some 2-300 or more over anything esle. Never been completely sold on them. I bought PSE Viper a few years back and happy with it. It is smaller xbow than excalibur by a foot and that makes a helluva difference if you ever have to stalk. There are some good xbows on the market and compounds have many advantages over recurves. Mind you I am now thinking compound bow, bows bring totally different sensations to the shot itself, hard to explain. Well-tuned bow is every bit as accurate as xbow and modern compounds approach similar velocities. Moral of my post - don't get zombified on one particular make, world would be too boring place if every girl was a blonde.

Ive personally hunted with a PSE viper last year for bear. Small package, ACCURATE, and still enough power for whatever youre hunting. Really the bigges things going for excal are the customer service and simplicity. Also I think the excals are lighter than the barnetts and hortons.

I dont know what else to tell you, goto archers nook and let them try to sell something to you.

Sounds good boys! I just checked Triggers and Bows which is just down the road from me and they have a Phoenix Lite Stuff Package for $663 which has the scope and 4 arrows. Looks like that is calling my name!

Did you end up getting it?? I got my Equinox package from Lake Huron Rod & Gun last year for $111 less than BP. They had the best price I could find anywhere.

Really like my Excalibur. Very accurate and so much fun to shoot! Have only taken a turkey with it. No deer yet. That's not the bow's fault though, it's mine:redface:

Make sure you use good quality broadheads that are crossbow compatible a friend of mine used the wrong broadheads and missed his deer, good thing he missed though as the broadhead lost 2 of the blades upon firing.

freddyfour, if you need someone to tag along, let me know!
I haven't hunted deer in 19 years! I will be going over to Michigan at the end of the month to end the drought.
That said, I just got a decent deal on a used Vixen. I've never bow hunted and looking to ease my way into it.
So far, I've had no success getting onto any properties up my way (hint hint ).

I haven't bought yet, still looking for the best deal and still not quite there on the funds yet. Probably going to have to wait at least one more pay cheque. Thanks for the tip
