Crossbow scopes

I won't go in the details but I brought out my Excalibur Matrix 380 crossbow to sight in for the season and practise from the stand today and found it had been damaged. Appears to have been dropped on the scope and the scope tube is bit bent up.

Researching a bit better xbow scope and ran across good reviews of a Hawke XB30 but can't find anyone stocking it in Canada.

I'm looking to replace it with one with an illuminated reticle.

Anyone know who carries these Hawke scopes in Canada? Any others I should consider?

leupold crossbones comes to mind but isn't lighted. i'll probably be switching to the leupy from the tact-zone that is now on my matrix 380 and compliment it with a hha optimizer for long distance target practice. the hawk seems to get some good reviews but I haven't seen any to compare for myself.

I found a dealer nearby with some in stock.

It is listed as a Hawke XB30 but I wonder if it is an older model as it only goes out to 360 fps. Now truth be told while my bow is a Matrix 380, I'm guessing that shooting 150gr broadheads the speed is more like 360 and I doubt it will make a difference at 20 - 30 yard ranges I'm shooting at.

The Hawke XB30 is decent. About half the weight is the mount it comes with, if you get one, ditch the mount and put it in some aluminum rings.

Do NOT buy the XB30 Compact, it has horrible glass and fish eyes. The XB30 is about the best all round crossbow dedicated scope with illumination. The leupold is good, but no illumination, same with Nikon. I would not buy a crossbow scope without it for low light conditions.

Vortex has launched a crossbow scope recently, $699 ouch.

I am going the leupold route myself with a great deal on gently used Mark AR firedot. It is lighter than the Hawke, WAY better glass, and the firedot is phenomenal. I have killed more than a few batteries over the years by forgetting to turn them off. The firedot will turn itself off if you leave it sit, then comes on again when you move the bow. I don't want to add the 7ounces of an HHA Optimizer, so I have been playing with the mil dots and the dial. Currently played out to 40 yards. At 3x the 2nd mill dot is right on the money, or 1 and 1/4 turns of the dial to same. The dials don't have a zero stop, but I lucked out with my elevation only has a few MOA past zero.

Well, I recently picked up a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4x20 Firedot. It cost right around $720 from P&D Enterprises. Not sure if that's what you want to spend, but it could fit the bill very nicely. There's a few illumination settings, including strobe.

The Leupold sounds nice but I've been spending WAAAY too much money on gun related stuff lately. Sounds like I will stick with the XB30. Thank you for the feedback on the Compact and the rings!
