Crossing the border with Pinned magazines

Don't know about rich.
Let's say someone made and sold 10,000 magazines @$20 each. That's $200,000 gross. What would tooling cost? What would materials cost be? Manufacturing cost? Mag. body, spring, follower, baseplate, retainer? Could you sell 10,000?
Now let's talk quality. It would have to be first class. If someone buys one, and has a stoppage, imagine the whining on CGN.
Now if Colt Canada were to sell 5/30s........

why not support the Canadian dealers and help them help us all by staying in business? --- not only that, but it's easier :dancingbanana:

It's because in some cases when it come to guns, Canadian dealers would gouge your wallet & your eyes out if they get a chance. Some prices are just way to high here & just not fare.. IMHO

In all seriousness if you cross the border coming into canada and go thru canada customs ,why would they care if you have mags that are legal(fixed) It has been a few years since i crossed the border. Canada customs didn't see a yank when i came back into canada. declared a cheap bottle of crown royal and a carton of smokes, payed my duty and went merrily on my way.

well customs 90% chance will grab magazines pinned with a pop rivit they have there own rules

also the us gov does do spot check On the US side where US laws apply

and as ive stated elsewhere

you will lose your mags maybe your car $$$millions in fines possible and years in jail..... and a us entry ban

you are STILL breaking US laws just because canada customs dose not care its still breaking laws.....

Guys the rules are the rules, dont discuss violating either Canadian or US export/import laws.

as above you REQUIRE us export permits to exoprt them

if you not an American you cannot get them

get caught and you face from a stern warning to years in jail and millions in fines you a gambling man? all for the sake of saving maybe $50.00 bucks?

Canada customs also makes it in rules up and in the past has siezed mags pinned with a rivit as NOT being permenatly altered.......

basically buy them from a shop here in canada or here in the EE

I have never ever not even 1 time been searched at the border... not even 1 time.. now... I travel with a friend or family and dont goto the states very often I find its more hassel comeing back when you tell them you were shopping and when they asked were do I work I was like retail.. its still cheaper in the states and IM getting staff discount... the border guy was like o... grilled them enoff off you go... once they know I was working retail they like ok he knows about people buying stuff in the states...

most of the time if Im going to the states its a day trip or vacation in which case ill spend around 1 month to 4 weeks in the states...

crosed the border about.... 60 times in my whole life.. never searched or really hasseld just what you doing ok .. answer it quickly and if you are going to lie... make sure your ready too do it right away with your answers... did you buy anything yes I bought a t shirt had sunglass ect.. declare something sometimes just say nope didnt have my size unfortinatly.. they ask you when you go down were your going and on the way back they make sure the answers match up if they dont they flag you...

say you say Im going to this montian thats 5 hours away and your back at the border in 30mins.. they going to be like hmmm thats supisos its all on the screen right away for them to see what your doing..

Just dont lie declare everything.. because if you do lie they can come search your house if they want to they can cut open your seats and basicly say you pay for it..

What do they do if you've been shooting in the states and you brought them down pinned? Can you bring them back?

your not importing or exporting... it only applys to when you buy something gas food is exempt...

That and you already did a boat load of paper work.. so they probly will search you and be like we cant prove it eather way aslong as they are legal..

I own land down in Montana so I am back and forth accross the border quite frequently now. I would say 1 in every 6 times coming back to Canada the US border guards are setup before the Canadian boarder and they are doing random checks and vehicle searches. So as others have said follow the laws it is not worth it.

just take them apart and bring them back as mag kits.

"Mag Kits" will get seized by the CBSA. USA requires export permit for mags. If Mags are pinned correctly before they arrive at CBSA office, they are okay for import into Canada. CBSA dosn't check for USA export permits. USBP often does export checks before you reach Canada. If you get stopped w/o export permit you'll risk a felony charge in the USA.

Cheers,

You are still exporting ILLEGALY from the USA....
I think we should start a new thread on CGN, we all send in a few dollars now and then so we can mail care packages to the US Federal "vacation spas" for all those Canadian illegal exporters.

TIRIAQ;
Is right on both counts, there will soon be a change to the law regarding mag housings, in short if you have the housing it is deemed as being the mag....
ANd yes we have heard that Canada Customs is now enforcing this "policy"

John John John, you just don't get it do you?

Billy-Bob's third-degree cousin on his doggie's side told him he heard his neighbour's wife screwing with an American border guard and he really didn't sound like a guy who would ever search anyone getting out of the US so it's obvious there's no possible way Canadians would ever be caught illegally exporting contraband firearm parts.

Dontcha know? :stirthepot2:

I hate to state the obvious...but you don;t seem to get it. It's expensive (in both time and money) to bring these parts into canada...even for the dealers. Get it
