Anyone have any info on this rifle? It was given to me and I am not sure but I don't think it is shooting as fast or as hard as it should??? comared to my break action 177; also can I get a pistol grip for this gun?
 
The steel breech gives you a more stable mount to attach scope or other hardware to, and looks like better quality than the plastic parts.

Skies the limit, as far as add-ons for those go. You can easily spend hundreds of dollars on accessories for a sixty dollar airgun.

Pretty much boils down to making it into what you want, instead of what the manufacturer did.

You'd probably need a chronograph to be sure how fast it's shooting, but # of pumps and pellet weight have everything to do with velocity. Also, unless it's leaking air when you pump it up, it's probably shooting to spec as is, but the total lack of recoil/vibration (present in a spring piston rifle) might lead you to believe it's not moving fast. Different power systems altogether.

A steel breech is a good idea if optics are planned, but not needed otherwise. Plastic grips (the kind used on Crosman 1377/1322 pistols) SHOULD work, but it'll depend on whether or not the current stock is held on by screws through the grip. Earlier versions of that gun, like the 1389 I owned, the stock attached a different way. So, pop that stock off, if the grip area has 2 threaded holes in the center, I'd say you have the option of making that gun a really poorly-balanced pistol. :)

On a side note, more power is required to move a heavier .22 pellet that that required to move a .177 pellet. Airgun manufacturers sometimes offer overly-optimistic performance #s that require downhill shots with a tailwind...and aluminum pellets. :) You'll have to try it and see.
